I have always found it harder to pick presents for men than for women. I generally end up giving them the same things year after year. I want to be innovative and surprise them for a change! That's why I decided to compile a list of possible gifts for the men in my family. For those who love sports, a sports-related present could be nice. There is fan gear for the basketball teams, the baseball teams, the football teams and so on. Once you know which is his favourite team, it is a matter of visiting the specialized stores and check the possibilities. Depending on your available budget, you could get them the team jersey or t-shirt, a wall calendar featuring the team, a watch, a hat, a mug, even underwear with the team logo and colors! There are also some sports DVDs available for those who like to review old times. If he likes to practice sports, then some accessories for it could be nice: a stopwatch, a portable bench, running shoes, a backpack or duffel to carry his stuff. For those who go to the stadium frequently, a stadium seat could be an option.
Does he enjoy travelling? A travel book could be a good alternative. If you know of places he would like to visit, a book about one of those places is something he will most probably appreciate. There are also books about trips and specialized travel guides. Those beautiful big books with glossy pictures always look so attractive! Travel accessories or travel gear also make good choices, especially if he travels frequently. You may give him something to make his life easier like new luggage, an international plug adapter, a travel organizer or a neck pillow.
Is there a particular magazine he likes to read? You could give him a subscription to it for six months, or a year. It should be a magazine about something he enjoys, preferably not related to his work. For example, a friend of mine loves those radio-control models of planes and boats. I found a magazine about it and gave him a subscription to it for his birthday. He loved it. He had not been reading the magazine lately and this gift was a way to deliver something he liked for a long period of time. You will find there are magazines about almost everything you can think of.
An MP3 player is a good idea if he likes music. Or if he already owns one, it could be some accessory for it like a speaker system. A portable DVD player will also make a nice present. If he uses computers it could be a mouse, webcam or keyboard. If he likes PC Gaming, then it could also be gamepads, game joysticks, game keyboards or pc games.
In this article I have explored some alternatives that could make good Christmas presents for men. As you see, there is much more variety to choose from than you would usually think of. It is a matter of exploring and finding not traditional items. The most important is to start considering his tastes and then, based on that, explore and find something to surprise him.
