Art - The Creation of Beautiful Things

The dictionary gives quite a few definitions of the word "art" and distinguishes it's creation as pertains to painting, music, or writing. The common sense question then becomes, "Is art learned or an innate sense, present from birth springing forth at the earliest opportunity."

It is interesting to notice small children who, when given an opportunity to color and draw pictures or the option to play with a toy, choose one over the over. We, as adults, even then begin to think of the child in terms of their choice. We offer the quiet child pretty books and pictures to color and read which positively effect their personality.

The more active child who chooses moving toys are often guided by the parent to make the sounds that relate to the object. Without being aware of it, we assume that this child will probably not enjoy a quieter setting.

At what age then do we begin to enjoy the appearance of objects? Does our sense of beauty remain only in the sound of beautiful music, reading a thought-provoking book, or enjoying visual art? Again, are we born with a talent or do we cultivate a talent?

The answer is probably some of both. We all know people who can't seem to help themselves. They just have to paint or write, in essence, must create something. They are driven to learn the techniques involved in producing the thing they love.

History is full of powerful stories of artist who were so driven, they could not live a normal life. Consider the great musical writers of the past. At an early age, most of them were taught the mechanics of playing a musical instrument. But they could not stop with the basics. They pushed on until many of them spent their lives in abnormal situations which led to their early demise.

We can agree that some of the most beautiful works of art we have ever seen are those in nature. Many colors that cannot be reproduced surround us. We see them every day so they appear normal to us. When we see the art created by humans though, we sometimes fail to see the skill and ability that was necessary to create an object.

Polish Pottery stoneware dishes are handmade and hand-painted by artists. They have the natural ability to paint but they have been taught by master teachers to use the skills and techniques needed to work quickly and efficiently. These dishes are not mass-produced. These artists have learned, using sponges and brushes to work using their innate ability paired with modern techniques to create beautiful works of art.

Our gallery is one of beautiful Polish art and so much more. These dishes are sturdy enough to be used daily. They are glazed to help prevent sticking. Every piece can be used in the oven for baking and are dishwasher safe.
And you will love the combination of beauty and art on your table.
